Billing & Plans
The Billing & Plans page is where you manage your GitSec subscription: compare plans, upgrade or downgrade, switch your billing cycle, view your current usage, and request or revert a cancellation.
Accessing the Page
Navigate to Billing & Plans in the sidebar. You can also reach it from the user menu in the top-right corner, from the Upgrade Plan button in the header usage indicator, or via the Manage Billing shortcut on the License page.
Page Overview
The page is organized into three sections:
- Current plan card: Your plan name, subscription status, monthly price, billing cycle, next charge amount, and next invoice date. When you have wallet credit, the balance is shown here too. The card also lists your plan's features and holds the Change Billing Cycle and Cancel Subscription / Resume Subscription actions.
- Current Usage card: Live usage versus your plan limits for Repositories, and Storage (with the remaining amount), plus additional feature rows such as audit log retention. Features your plan does not include. For example BYOS on lower tiers appear as Locked rows.
- Plan Comparison: All available plans side by side, with a Monthly / Yearly toggle that defaults to your current billing cycle.
:::tip Free plan On the free plan, the page additionally showcases the features you would unlock with a paid plan, and a See Plans button jumps straight to the plan comparison. :::
Available Plans
GitSec offers five plans:
| Plan | How to get it |
|---|---|
| Freemium | The free entry plan every workspace starts on. |
| Startup | Self-serve upgrade for small teams. |
| Premium | Self-serve upgrade for growing teams. |
| Premium+ | Self-serve upgrade, highlighted as Most Popular. |
| Enterprise | Not self-serve, request it through Contact Sales. |
Each plan card shows the price for the selected billing cycle, the repository limit, the storage limit, and the feature list. Yearly prices are billed annually. The button under each card reflects your position: Current for your active plan, Upgrade or Downgrade for the others, and Contact Sales for Enterprise.
:::info Prices and limits are live Prices, limits, and included features come directly from the current GitSec catalogue, so the plan cards always show the up-to-date values for your account. :::
Upgrading Your Plan
- In the Plan Comparison section, pick a billing cycle with the Monthly / Yearly toggle.
- Click Upgrade on the plan you want. GitSec first validates the change on the server and then opens a confirmation window summarizing the target plan, price, and billing cycle.
- Select a billing address. If you do not have one yet, you can add it in the same window: Either an individual or a corporate profile with tax details.
- Confirm the purchase. A secure payment window opens where you enter your card details and complete 3-D Secure verification.
- After the payment, you land on a checkout result page confirming success or failure, and your new plan takes effect immediately on success.
:::info Wallet credit If your account holds wallet credit. For example remaining value credited after a downgrade, it is applied to the charge automatically. When the credit covers the full amount, no payment window opens and the plan change completes directly. :::
Downgrading Your Plan
Downgrading works through the same flow via the Downgrade button. Two additional rules apply:
- Usage must fit the target plan. A downgrade is blocked while your current usage (repositories, storage, and so on) exceeds the target plan's limits. Reduce your usage first. For example by excluding repositories and then retry.
- Downgrading from Enterprise is not self-serve. Stepping down from Enterprise routes you to Contact Sales instead.
:::warning Plan change limit Plan changes are limited per billing period. If you reach the limit, further changes are blocked until your subscription renews. :::
Changing Your Billing Cycle
On paid plans you can switch between monthly and yearly billing at any time with the Change Billing Cycle action on the current plan card. The switch runs through the same confirmation and checkout flow as a plan change: moving from monthly to yearly is processed as an upgrade, and from yearly to monthly as a downgrade.
Enterprise & Contact Sales
Choosing Contact Sales opens a request form that our sales team uses to prepare an offer:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Full name | Your first and last name. |
| Work email | The address sales will reply to. |
| Company | Your company name. |
| Team size | Select a range. |
| Country | Select your country. |
| Git Provider | One or more git providers you use, at least one is required. |
| Estimated repositories | A rough repository count for scale and pricing. |
| What do you need? | Storage needs, compliance requirements, migration support, or other context (at least 20 characters). |
After submitting, the sales team reviews your request and gets back to you.
Cancelling Your Subscription
- On the current plan card, click Cancel Subscription.
- The confirmation dialog shows the Access until date. The end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- Click Request Cancellation to confirm.
After the request, your subscription status changes to Cancellation Pending: auto-renewal is disabled, no further charges are scheduled, and the page shows the cancellation effective date. You keep full access to your plan until that date, after which your workspace moves to the free plan (see the Cleanup status on the License page).
Reverting a Cancellation
While a cancellation is pending, the same card offers Resume Subscription. Confirming removes the pending cancellation and restores automatic renewal, your plan continues as before.
Payments & Renewals
- Payments are one-off card payments per billing period, processed through the secure checkout with 3-D Secure. GitSec does not store your card and does not charge it automatically.
- As the end of your billing period approaches, GitSec sends renewal reminder emails. Renewal is completed by paying through the checkout.
- If the period ends without a renewal, your license enters a Grace Period during which service continues and payment reminder notices are sent. If payment is still not completed, the subscription is suspended.
Plan-Limited Capabilities
The dimensions that vary between plans:
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Repositories | Maximum number of repositories included in backups. |
| Storage | Total backup storage available to your workspace. |
| Audit log retention | How many days audit log records are kept. |
| BYOS (Bring-Your-Own-Storage) | Store backups in your own storage provider available on Premium+ and Enterprise. Shown as a Locked row on lower tiers. |
Next Steps
- Track your license status and usage against your plan limits.
- Include or exclude repositories to control your repository quota.
- Connect your own storage provider if your plan includes BYOS.
